How We Took a Warsaw-Based Business to #1 in Polish Search Results

A Warsaw home renovation company went from invisible on Google.pl to ranking #1 for high-intent local keywords — driving a 340% increase in organic traffic and a steady stream of qualified project inquiries.

Client: DomRemont (anonymized) Location: Warsaw, Poland Duration: 9 months

Client Overview

DomRemont is a mid-sized home renovation company based in Warsaw’s Mokotów district. Founded in 2016, the firm specializes in kitchen and bathroom remodels, full apartment renovations, and turnkey finishing services for residential clients across the capital. With a team of 35 craftsmen and project managers, DomRemont had built a strong reputation through word-of-mouth referrals and partnerships with local real estate agents.

Despite their offline credibility, the company was virtually invisible online. Their website received fewer than 200 organic visits per month, most branded searches from people who already knew the company name. Competing firms with thinner portfolios but stronger SEO were capturing the high-intent searches that should have been DomRemont’s lifeblood — homeowners actively looking for renovation contractors in Warsaw.

The leadership team approached Polish SEO Agency with a clear objective: become the go-to renovation company on Google.pl for Warsaw homeowners, without relying on paid advertising to sustain lead flow.

The Challenge

DomRemont faced a set of interconnected problems that are common among established local businesses in Poland’s capital.

Low organic visibility. The website ranked on page three or beyond for every commercially valuable keyword. Searches like “remont łazienki Warszawa,” “wykończenie mieszkania Mokotów,” and “firma remontowa Warszawa cennik” sent traffic to competitors who had invested in content and technical foundations years earlier.

Outdated website architecture. The site was built on a generic template with thin service pages — each under 300 words, lacking project photos, client testimonials, or structured data. Google had little reason to consider DomRemont an authority on renovation topics.

No local SEO foundation. The Google Business Profile was incomplete, with inconsistent business hours and no regular photo updates. Citations across Polish directories like Panorama Firm and Oferteo were either missing or contained outdated phone numbers from a previous office relocation.

Content in the wrong language register. Existing copy read like a direct translation from English marketing brochures. Polish homeowners search with specific, practical phrases — they want to know renovation timelines, approximate costs per square meter, and whether permits are needed. DomRemont’s pages answered none of these questions.

Fierce local competition. Warsaw’s renovation market is crowded. National franchises, freelance contractors on marketplace platforms, and well-funded competitors with dedicated marketing teams all competed for the same search real estate. Breaking through required a strategy built on genuine expertise, not shortcuts.

Strategy

Our approach combined deep keyword research, culturally accurate content localization, technical SEO remediation, and targeted link building — all calibrated for how Polish consumers search for home renovation services.

Keyword Research

We began with a comprehensive keyword discovery process focused on Warsaw’s renovation market. Using a combination of Google Search Console data, competitor gap analysis, and Polish keyword research tools, we mapped over 400 relevant search terms and clustered them by intent.

Informational intent queries — such as “ile kosztuje remont kuchni,” “jak długo trwa remont łazienki,” and “czy do remontu potrzebne jest pozwolenie” — represented the top of the funnel. These searches indicated homeowners in the planning phase, and we knew that capturing them early would position DomRemont as a trusted advisor before competitors entered the conversation.

Transactional intent queries — including “firma remontowa Warszawa,” “remont mieszkania pod klucz cena,” and “wykończenie wnętrz Mokotów” — signaled buyers ready to request quotes. We prioritized these for service page optimization and local landing pages.

Geo-modified searches proved especially valuable. Warsaw homeowners frequently include district names in their queries. We built dedicated content targeting Mokotów, Wilanów, Ursynów, Ochota, and Śródmieście, recognizing that a homeowner in Wilanów may prefer a contractor who explicitly serves their neighborhood.

We also analyzed search volume seasonality. Renovation searches in Poland peak in January through March (post-holiday planning) and again in September (pre-winter preparation). This insight shaped our content publishing calendar, ensuring new guides went live ahead of demand spikes.

Content Localization

Direct translation is one of the most common mistakes international and local businesses make when targeting Polish searchers. DomRemont’s original website copy used formal, corporate language that did not match how Warsaw homeowners actually talk about renovation projects.

We rewrote every service page and guide in natural Polish, using the vernacular homeowners employ in forums, Facebook groups, and conversations with neighbors. Instead of “comprehensive interior transformation solutions,” we wrote about “kompleksowy remont mieszkania od A do Z.” Instead of “bathroom modernization,” we used “remont łazienki z wymianą instalacji.”

Each service page was expanded to 1,200–1,800 words and structured around real homeowner concerns: typical project duration, what is included in the quote, material options and their cost implications, and a gallery of completed projects from that specific service category. We added FAQ sections addressing the exact questions that appeared in “People Also Ask” boxes on Google.pl.

For educational content, we published guides that no competitor had covered in depth — a comprehensive breakdown of renovation costs per square meter in Warsaw (updated quarterly), a step-by-step explanation of the apartment handover and renovation process for new property buyers, and a comparison of renovation financing options available to Polish homeowners.

We also integrated Polish cultural context. References to block apartment renovations (remonty w bloku), cooperative housing board approvals (zgoda wspólnoty mieszkaniowej), and the distinction between “stan deweloperski” and “stan surowy” resonated with the target audience in ways generic content never could.

Technical SEO

Technical issues were holding back DomRemont’s site regardless of content quality. Our audit identified several critical problems that we addressed systematically.

Core Web Vitals. The site’s largest contentful paint exceeded four seconds on mobile, primarily due to uncompressed project gallery images. We implemented WebP conversion, lazy loading, and responsive image sizing, bringing LCP below 2.5 seconds.

Site architecture. We restructured the URL hierarchy from flat, generic paths to a logical taxonomy: /uslugi/remont-kuchni/, /uslugi/remont-lazienki/, /realizacje/mokotow/, and /poradnik/ile-kosztuje-remont-mieszkania/. Internal linking connected service pages to relevant guides and project galleries, distributing authority throughout the site.

Schema markup. We implemented LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ, and BreadcrumbList structured data. The FAQ schema alone generated rich results for six target queries within the first three months.

Indexation cleanup. The old site had 47 thin pages indexed, including duplicate location pages and an abandoned blog with two posts from 2018. We consolidated or noindexed these pages and submitted an updated sitemap through Google Search Console.

Mobile experience. Over 70% of DomRemont’s traffic came from mobile devices. We redesigned key conversion elements — the quote request form and click-to-call button — to meet mobile usability standards and reduced form fields from nine to five.

For a local renovation business, link building required a focus on relevance and geographic authority rather than sheer volume.

We secured placements on Polish home and interior design publications by contributing expert commentary on renovation trends, cost analyses, and seasonal maintenance tips. Three guest articles on established Polish lifestyle portals generated high-quality backlinks and referral traffic from readers actively interested in home improvement.

Local citation building was equally important. We audited and corrected DomRemont’s listings across 35 Polish business directories, ensuring consistent name, address, and phone number data. We also claimed and optimized profiles on Oferteo, Fixly, and Oferia — platforms where Polish homeowners actively search for contractors.

We leveraged DomRemont’s existing relationships for link opportunities. Partnerships with three Warsaw real estate agencies resulted in co-branded “renovation readiness” guides linked from the agencies’ resource pages. A local tile and flooring supplier featured DomRemont’s bathroom project in their portfolio section, providing a relevant industry backlink.

Finally, we implemented a systematic review generation process tied to project completion. Satisfied clients received a follow-up email with a direct link to leave a Google review. Over six months, DomRemont’s Google Business Profile grew from 12 reviews to 89, with an average rating of 4.8 stars. These reviews strengthened local pack rankings and provided social proof that converted organic visitors into quote requests.

The combined strategy — precise keyword targeting, authentically Polish content, a technically sound website, and a diversified link profile — transformed DomRemont from a word-of-mouth business into Warsaw’s most visible renovation company on Google.pl.
